Tapspace Echo Song by Gene Koshinski

The multi-percussion solo Echo Song by Gene Koshinski was inspired by a madrigal for antiphonal choirs by Renaissance composer Orlando di Lasso. Koshinski centered this solo around the Ritmica method of simultaneously playing unrelated ostinati and rhythmic ideas.

An optional assistant percussionist can be added to the piece (as far away from the audience as possible) to heighten the 'echoic' nature of the writing. This multi solo vibrantly pushes forward with overlapping timbres and rhythms, and is a great addition to any recital.
