Beethoven's Fur Elise is one of the most widely recognizable classical piano pieces in Western music. This sad, dance-like work is arranged by Christopher M. Retschulte for 5-6 players, complementing the ghostly nature of the original music.

The vibraphone takes care of most of the melody, while the glockenspiel, marimba, and xylophone provide support. Timpani and an optional double bass add the all-important low end.

Programming this piece is an excellent way to expose young-to-intermediate percussionists to the music of Beethoven, and the Romantic period in general.
