Pop Drop by Brian Slawson is designed to help develop the technical and ensemble skills of younger or less experienced percussionists. The piece is based on duple rhythms, which move around the ensemble and are split between unison playing and individual or small groups of people, requiring players to listen carefully.

Pop Drop is a great choice for beginner percussion ensembles, as the piece is designed to have a flexible instrumentation and size. It is written for three players, but it is easy to expand to more, and it even allows each player to choose their own instrument from a provided list.
