Evans Strata Timpani Heads are pre-tensioned to make seating and tuning easier, featuring a smooth calf-colored coating that promotes a warm tone and clear pitch to blend naturally with any ensemble.
The steel insert ring provides a strong, very thin bearing edge for the head to rest upon, increasing tuning consistency and making the seating process easier to deal with. This ring is most effective at boosting sound quality, but the head will be significantly raised above the counterhoop.
The steel ring on this Evans head has been powder-coated to protect it from the elements - it won't rust when taken outdoors.
