Evans Strata 1000 Drum Heads feature a similar texture and tone to natural calf, made with a 10-mil ply of textured film. It produces a warm, full sustain with a mid-range attack that blends well with orchestras and wind ensembles.
The thickness of this head gives you a nice blend - it's nuanced and dark when you play quietly, but able to cut through an entire ensemble when pushed to louder dynamics.
