It's called a tambourine, but the Black Madonna is really more of a frame drum - shake rolls are going to be hard to pull off on a 16" drum. The head has a barky tone similar to the Sicilian Tammorra, with more tambourine-like qualities from the 9 pairs of jingles in the frame.
The head on this drum features a striking image of the Black Madonna of Monserrat.
