Malletech Michael Burritt 5 Octave Marimba

Low in store inventory, may be subject to change

Malletech's MJB Michael Burritt Marimba has all of the sound quality of the Imperial Grand (maybe even better) but with Honduran rosewood bars the same width as the Stiletto model - so you don't need to stretch so far to reach octaves in the lowest register.

This marimba also has a much more contemporary look, thanks to the slow-bent low resonators that extend horizontally. There's no coincidence that this marimba looks a little bit like a giant musical motorcycle.

The bass bars on this marimba have been designed using a geometry that further enhances the low fundamental.

This instrument is built without cutting corners to reduce cost, with many patented technologies and designs:

Frame & Structure

  • Heavy-duty 2.25" solid oak frame ends and 1.0625" bar rails
  • Wide, tall bar posts that prevent cord binding and bars 'bottoming out' on the rails
  • Rubber dovetail 'Uni-Bracket' mounting system for rails and resonators
  • Antlers to support the resonators across the span of the instrument, preventing sag
  • Hidden centerpole that strengthens the frame and cannot be seen by audience
  • Custom heavy-duty hinges
  • Total nut-and-bolt assembly

Resonators

  • Round resonator tubes in all registers for the best possible tone
  • 6-part design that one person can easily put together alone, without screws or wingnuts.
  • Ability to fit in the back of a hatchback vehicle

Adjustments & Tuning

  • Metal-topped resonator tuning adjustment caps on every note
  • Z-Brace that strengthens the structure and adjusts the accidental row overhang distance
  • Nodal brace that allows for micro-adjustments of rail distance
  • Totally enclosed, crank-driven height adjustment system (removable crank)
